Pluto is the 2nd self-produced full length album of the band and is now available online
Brooklyn, NY. – September 12, 2011 – After almost a year of hard work, collaborative duo Twintapes released their 2nd self-produced full length album entitled Pluto. The blend of dream pop and electronica on Pluto came naturally to the band who wanted their sophomore album to reflect their different locations and life experiences. This album is a follow-up to their debut album Somewhere Down the Road and features seven original songs along with a cover, including the single “Pluto”, whose video was released this month.
“To me this album is an important transition from my previous work. Even though some songs don’t have a typical form or a chorus, they still hook people. They still have a commercial appeal. I’ve always wanted to explore the boundaries of sounding “different” and yet familiar at the same time,” Lead singer Pavel says of Pluto.
This album marks the first time that the duo has fully recorded without ever having been together during production. Pavel recorded in New York City while Jon moved back to his native Nashville, Tennessee. The pair became accustomed to writing and recording songs apart ever since the two moved away from each other after college. The distance only encouraged them to continue making music and together they generated a large fan base by posting their collaborative videos online.
As if they never parted ways, Pluto calls right back to the twosome’s calming, meaningful, and nostalgic feel featured in Somewhere Down the Road while also creating a fantastic and exciting new sound. In an overly mass produced music market, Pluto is a fresh breath of air.
ABOUT TWINTAPES
Twintapes is the collaborative and long distance effort of old college friends Pavel and Jon Estes. Pavel is originally from the Dominican Republic where he attributes his influence of Latin music from and a native of Tennessee, Jon grew up surrounded by country music. A seamless blend of american heart with dominican soul, complimented by a healthy portion of 80s synth is at the core of Twintapes’ eclectic inspiration.
After meeting in college, the two decided to pursue a musical career together. Their journey took them to New York City, where they wrote and produced their first album, Somewhere Down the Road. This album cleverly combined vocals reminiscent of the 60s and 70s, as well as beats that prospered in the 80s. The sound is calming, meaningful, soft, dreamy, and nostalgic.
For the last three years, Twintapes has been exclusively delivering their music online through social media. This unique strategy has allowed the duo to harness the power of the Internet to gain an impressive following of loyal listeners throughout the globe. By producing their own videos and posting them online on streaming platforms, Twintapes has gained millions of online views and critical accolades. With newfound confidence and the release of their most recent self-produced album Pluto, Twintapes will go beyond being solely viral and connect with a broader fan base.
