| New song by Decibels titled “The Lesser”. The contrast between the melody and the darker lyrics was pretty cool. Check out their video that although it appears simple, it becomes interesting upon further thought. New video from Memoryhouse. I like this pop sound. You may find yourself nostalgic from both listening to the song and watching the video. Directed by a photographer based out of Brooklyn. Directed by Shawn Brackbill
Nice new video for Gotye‘s “Easy Way Out.” Although this video took as long to make as a full term baby takes, it seems by the results it was time well spent. The video depicts the daily mundane tasks using stop-motion animation. Nice. Directed By Darcy Prendergast
I really like the story telling in this video. It features a weekly amateur wrasslin’ night that takes place at a hotel (i think). Kinda makes you feel like you are there, transporting you to a piece of Americana in the south. Well done in capturing this “sporting” event and the stories behind it.
I like this song from MMOTHS although it would have probably worked better as an instrumental. The video features a group of hipsters hanging out in the woods and having fun…i mean they are having fun right? Anyways, plenty of nice shots (particularly at night). Overall good job in filming the video.
Latest video from Nada Surf – didn’t know they were still making music. What caught my eye was the video. Why you ask? Well because a few weeks ago we were discussing some ideas for a music video. We discussed one main idea for a while, and this video seems to parallel quite a few of the thoughts and ideas we were throwing around. Kind of freaky really.
Miike Snow makes indie pop music out of Sweden. The band is made up of two producing team Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg along with American songwriter Andrew Wyatt. Karlsson and Winnberg have produced for a long list of artists and won a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording (Spears’ “Toxic”). They have also remixed tracks for the likes of Depeche Mode, Passion Pit, and Vampire Weekend. This very weeeiirddd video is very intriguing. One more thing, their name is in part a tribute to the great Japanese horror film director Takashi Miike. Watch but don’t say i did not warn you. Although not really a music video, this is a great concept – RC planes that look like people. At times it’s freaky and it looks like people are really flying accross New York City. Neat concept that is sure to get a lot of exposure. Well done fellas. Posted this song a few weeks ago and now it has a video so here it is. Not sure what’s going on in the video, but i still really like song. Epileptic inducing flashing at the end is always amusing but watch at your own risk.
“Easy” is from Real Estate’s 2011 album “Days” released late 2011. This very funny video, directed by Tom Scharpling, summarizes how artists can sometimes feel about sharing their music and getting it heard. The video even plays out like the great Sopranos episode that took place in the woods. Tom Scharpling (radio host, comedian writer and obviously director) has directed several music videos, mostly for groups with whom he is friends with. And almost always on very limited budget (that would be great right? – to work with someone talented on a very limited budget). Check it out.
